i3 Health Has New Accreditation!

i3 Health is thrilled to announce that we have been reviewed by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ (JA) and awarded a 4 year accreditation term.

JA began as a collaboration between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a way to streamline the accreditation process. In the 10 years since JA was created, additional accrediting bodies have joined, and providers holding JA now have the option of offering accredited education to athletic trainers, dentists, dietitians, nurses, optometrists, PAs, pharmacists, physicians, psychologists, and social workers.

A key requirement to be eligible for JA comes from the last part of the accreditation name. JA providers are focused on interprofessional continuing education. A minimum of 25% of a provider’s activities must be designed by the healthcare team for the healthcare team. In order to apply for JA, a provider needs to show that they have been offering interprofessional education for the past 18 months.

We know that healthcare providers work in teams. This accreditation shows that the education provided by i3 Health is for the team and not just the individuals who make up the team. There is a growing evidence base showing us that participation in this type of activity improves healthcare professionals’ performance outcomes, and that is, of course, a primary goal of continuing education.

This accreditation decision rewards years of work and allows us to look forward to continued improvement in our educational offerings.
